BANK OF AFRICA – BMCE Group was named "Top Performer CSR 2020" by the extra-financial rating agency Vigeo Eiris, among 14 out of the 44 largest Stock-Exchange companies in Morocco, having obtained the best ratings in their approach to social responsibility and sustainability risk management.

The Bank, which has improved its score since 2019, ranks first out of 95 emerging market banks, second out of 851 overall in the region (all sectors combined) and 47th out of 4842 worldwide – rating carried out in June 2020.

This distinction, obtained for the 7th consecutive year, reinforces the positioning of BANK OF AFRICA – BMCE Group, under the impetus of its Chairman, Mr. Othman Benjelloun, as an international reference group in sustainable and inclusive finance that has a positive impact.

In 2020, the performance of BANK OF AFRICA – BMCE Group stands out in particular on 12 criteria of Corporate Social Responsibility (i) "Ensuring equitable treatment of shareholders"; (ii) "Definition of environmental strategy"; (iii) "Balance of powers, respect for the powers and efficiency of the Board of Directors"; (iv) "Customer information"; (v) "Control of energy consumption and reduction of polluting emissions"; (vi) "Offer of green products and services"; (vii) "Responsible contract orientation and respect for customer rights"; (viii) "Prevention of discrimination and promotion of equality between genders and with regard to vulnerable categories"; (ix) "Promotion and continuous improvement of the conditions and content of social dialogue"; (x) "Taking into account the societal impact of products and services on the territories of activity"; (xi) "Managing restructuring in a socially responsible way"; (xii) "Respect for freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining".

BANK OF AFRICA – BMCE Group’s distinction as Morocco’s CSR Top Performers thus recognises the collective performance of all the Group’s components, which are now mobilised to deploy the six commitments of the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility Charter.
